Mother/Daughter Summer Book Club

Ellie and I joined the Summer Book Club at the library. The 1st book is one of our favorites Dragon Slippers by Jessica Day George. We really had a fun time reading it again together.

Ellie and I pose for our picture! She is dressed up as Creel, the heroine of the book and I'm a dragon named Feniul.

Even though this book has a girl for the heroine it is about fighting and of dragons. So even Conner, my friends son, thought it was cool.

For our discussion mtg. my friend, Miss Sally transformed the library in to King's Seat, the setting for most of the book. In the clothe district, we made our own pair of Dragon Slippers.

We played dress-up in Dreda's Dress Shop.
Miss Sally, dressed up as Creel, and Anna, as Princess Amalia with her little dog Pippen.

Ellie and I both had a great time, and Ellie really liked making her very own dragon slippers. Part of the discussion was "What would you like your Dragon Slipper magic to be?" The kids had some good ideas like being able to fly, and getting their homework done, however the mothers ideas were great, the laundry done in the blink of an eye, clean magic-everything stays clean, beam me up magic-to never be late, and for all the gross health food (rice cakes) to taste like chocolate.

I love reading books by Annette Lyon!

Annette Lyon has a series of books, that I have fallen in love with called the Temple series.

The 1st book -House on the Hill is written about the building of the the Logan temple. The story follows a young girl named Lizzy through the trails she faces growing up, finding herself and her true love.

The 2nd book- At the Journey's End is a sequel of sorts to the first book. It talks about the St. George Temple, and follows a young man named Abe as he searches for the truth and his true love(my favorite so far)

There are also 2 more books in this series Spires of Stone(the Salt Lake Temple) and Towers of Strength (the Manti Temple).
I'm currently reading Spires of Stone and it is a very witty and well written story so far.
I would recommend this series, not only are the stories fun and enjoyable reads, I've learned a lot about the sacrifices that went into building our temples.

Bekah lost her two front teeth!

She looks so cute.
She had me pull out the 1st one and then she did the 2nd one all by herself.
She was very proud of herself and thought the blood was really cool. Now all we have to do is get her to STOP sucking her thumb before her new teeth grow back! Any suggestions?!

I just read a great book!

I wasn't too sure I would like it, and at first it had way to much DRAMA! However, after reading it I thought it had all the makings of a great book. It makes you laugh, cry, and get mad at the crazy characters. I was so involved with the story, I was sad to see it end. I recommend it to everyone! It is an easy, clean, romantic~ish read. Also it's written by our hometown gal, Becca Wilhite. You Go Girl!
