Planting the Berg Family Garden!

We always help plant the Berg Family garden!
In the spring it is the activity for most of our Monday night Family Home Evenings.
Here's Grandma Berg and Samantha planting the onions,

and Brian, Brad and Maylie covering them up.

Ellie planting the beans while Carsten supervises.
Bekah getting those beans evenly spaced.
Samantha and Weston helping too.
Annelisa and Mandy covering the beans,
while Paul and Ashlynn get started on the potatoes behind them.
Corey digging the potato holes,
while Ellie & Maddison plant the potatoes.
Grandpa Berg shows us all how it is done!
The Berg Family garden provides food for a lot of families.
It's a great way to teach the kids to work hard and it's just fun to be together.

Fun Stuff!

Finally a great day for a picnic.
The boys love to eat outside.

Cinco De Mayo

Cafe Rio Burritos, Mango Salad, and Chips & Salsa
My sister Annelisa made Empanadas for dessert. Yum!

Ellie's Spring Orchestra Concert!
Anna (Ellie's BF) and Ellie with their violins

Bekah's 1st grade program
The plumber song
Their program was all about what they could be when they grew up.
Bekah really got into it. She still goes around singing the song. She such a little performer.

Ellie's 5th grade class makes Ice Cream!
Anna, Ellie and McKenna stirring the ingredients.
Shaking the ice cream, wrapped in ice and newspaper
Do the shake it dance for 5 mins.
I'll try it! Ellie and McKenna
Hey! It's really good!
Want the recipe?
5th grade Ice Cream in a bag
2 liter bottle of soda pop any flavor.(favorites are root beer, orange, and grape)
1 16oz. can of condensed milk
crushed ice
rock salt
2 gallon and 2 quart Ziploc bags for family style,
or 1 pint and 1 quart size bag for each individual.
In a large bowl mix the soda pop(whole bottle) and the condensed milk stirring until well mixed. Next, fill the small Ziploc bag half full with mixture and close it tight. Then put the small bag in the bigger bag and fill the sides of the bag with ice and a little bit of rock salt. Next wrap the bag in 3-4 sheets of newspaper. then holding the newspaper wrapped bag, gently shake the package to avoid breaking the seals on the bag for 5 mins. Then check the ice cream to see if it as firmed up, if not continue shaking until firm, then eat. it melts fast and has a similar consistency to a root beer freeze. Can be put in the freezer to firm up more if desired.

They couldn't even smile for the Mother's Day pic.
Maybe they were just annoyed!
At least Bekah and Ray Smiled!!

I love reading books by Annette Lyon!

Annette Lyon has a series of books, that I have fallen in love with called the Temple series.
The 1st book -House on the Hill is written about the building of the the Logan temple. The story follows a young girl named Lizzy through the trails she faces growing up, finding herself and her true love.
The 2nd book- At the Journey's End is a sequel of sorts to the first book. It talks about the St. George Temple, and follows a young man named Abe as he searches for the truth and his true love(my favorite so far)
There are also 2 more books in this series Spires of Stone(the Salt Lake Temple) and Towers of Strength (the Manti Temple).
I'm currently reading Spires of Stone and it is a very witty and well written story so far.
I would recommend this series, not only are the stories fun and enjoyable reads, I've learned a lot about the sacrifices that went into building our temples.

Tiesha's 21st B-day & Preschool Graduation

Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to Tiesha!
Grandma Susy, gave Tiesha this beautiful corset for Rendezvous.
It's hand embroidered at the top.
We gave her these moonstone earrings.
Chris gave her a bunch of stuff(clothes) all securely wrapped up in this tape covered box.
It was a pain in the butt to open though!

Preschool Graduation
Mason, Jack, Carsten, and Ray

Ray recited this poem for the graduation program.
The Snowball
I made a little snowball, as prefect as can be.
I thought I'd keep it for a pet and let it sleep with me.
So I made it some pajamas and a pillow for it's head.
But late last night it ran away, but 1st it wet the bed!

My big 4 yr. old graduated from his 1st year of preschool!

We are so proud!
