One crazy week!

On Sunday Jan. 13Th, just three days after Lyn's 36Th birthday, Lyn came home from church with the flu. This "flu" had him down flat the rest of Sunday, and all day Monday. On Tuesday he woke up and his right shoulder was swollen and bright red. So I sent him to Doc. Berg to have it checked. Doc. Berg said it looked like cellulitis and gave him a shot in the butt, and put him on an antibiotic. By Wed. the redness was growing so he went back in and Wes Webster, put a shunt in his arm and from Wed. to Mon. Lyn had to go in every morning to have his I.V. of antibiotics. On Monday afternoon they did an MRI an when they got the results back on Thursday Doc. Berg sent him to a Gen. Surgeon in Provo , because they had found that one of his lympnodes was swollen. So on Friday we went down to see Dr. Thomas in Provo. After reviewing his charts and the MRI. He decided it was most likely just an infection, but given his family history,(both of his Dad's parents passed away from a form of cancer) it was better to do a biopsy and rule it out than to wait and have cancer spread. So Monday Jan. 28Th Lyn had biopsy surgery on his right lympnodes by his neck. He had to go under, because of the delicate spot of the lympnodes, right next to a major artery and many nerves. Anyway, the surgery went very well. Dr. Thomas has preformed many biopsies, and said that this one didn't look like cancer. They took out the most infected lympnode, it was oozing puss and said that there was two other ones that were infected but not as bad. Anyway it is GOOD NEWS! :) The biopsy results will be back next Monday and that's when we go down to have the stitches out too. But everything looks good, and he'll just have to take the antibiotics until the infection goes away.

Lyn has always been very healthy so it's been strange for him to be sick, but we have many things to be thankful for. Like not working for Heber Appliance at this time, since Lyn got paid on commission and didn't work for about a week. By being part-owner of his company we were able to deal better with that. We have truly been blessed by all the prayers and support of our family and friends. It has brought us such peace at this difficult time. We have grateful for the priesthood holders in our families that were able to given Lyn wonderful and inspired blessings, and for the peace and comfort that came with them.:) Thank you to everyone of you for your love and support!

Can you believe where Lyn was 20 mins. after we left the Surgical Center?

Yep! At Sportsman Warehouse looking at the Guns!

His big buff shoulder is really just the ice pack on his incision!

Our Friends from Japan

Not long after Ellie was born, Lyn's mother had a foriegn exchange student from Japan come and live with their family for the summer, Her name is Midori. Her sister Madoka came and stayed for a little while also and as a family we all become very close to them. Midori brought her parents and her sister back for a visit when Weston was two, and we hadn't heard from them in a long while. Midori now lives in New York, and Madoka married a great guy Koki, from Denver, CO. area, where they now live. Midori's parents still live in Japan.
It was so good to visit with them and to see them again. We had Sunday dinner at our house, and had a good visit. Then they next day, Bekah, Ray and I took them to Dairy Keen for lunch, then met up with Lyn's Mom(Grma Susy) at the Wasatch Mnt. State Park and they went snow shoeing with her, while the kids and I fed the ducks. After that they were off to visit more of their Utah friends, before heading back to Colorado. I hope this time around we can stay better in touch with these neat friends.

Ellie and Madoka

This is Ellie, Madoka and her Dad watching Ellie draw pictures for them. They were all very impressed with Ellie's art and she drew a picture for each of them.
Weston, Koki and Bekah

Bekah and Koki had a special bond from the start, he was so good to her and she dragged him everywhere with her, and he seemed to love it! The day after they left, Bekah was so sad, she sat in my lap and said"Mom, I miss Koki."
This is Koki reading to Ray. He was such a good sport!
We miss you all! Please email us!

Silly Weston

Lately, Weston has been into telling jokes, and he has a flair for it. Anyway this joke is funny, but It might be more funny just because of the way he tells it!
There are 3 guys, and a genie on top of this cliff, and the genie says if you will jump off the cliff I'll give each of you one wish. So the 1st guy jumps off and says I wish I was a bird and poof he turns into a bird. So the 2nd guy jumps off and says I wish I was a eagle and poof he turns into an eagle. so the 3rd guy jumps off and looks down and and says Oh crap!
At this point Weston can never stop laughing long enough to say that the guy turned into a piece of crap. Which makes the joke even more funny! Bekah and Ray try to repeat Weston's jokes, which for Ray is sometimes funnier, and Bekah sometimes not so good. She into the "shock and awe" affect right now. So much fun for me, ya know. Anyway, thought y'all might like a good joke and if this wasn't one, I guess you'll just have to have Weston tell it!

Family Sledding Party for Lyn's B-Day '08

Every year for Lyn's B-day, he takes half day off and we go sledding as a family. We had more fun this year because we found somewhere close by, so we got to play longer! We had a blast and even dug a snow cave! It is a fun family tradition, that I hope we can keep doing!

Temple Night

Once a month my family, The Bergs, go to the Temple as a family. For the month of Jan. we had all but three of my brothers and sisters attend. My brother, Corey & his wife, Mandy live in CA., my brother Jacob & his wife, Jessi live in Switzerland, and my youngest sister Kystalina who is not yet married, were not able to be with us. We went to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and then out to eat at The Mongolian Grill & Buffet in Lindon.
This is all of us, except me, I'm taking the picture, and my brother in law, Chad's head, is blocking my Mom & Dad.

This is(L-R) my Dad, Mom, and Emily, Chad, and Lyn.

(L-R) This is Susan, Tyler, Brian, Annelisa, Brad, and Camille.

It was great that all of us could go together this time, since my brother Tyler goes back to law school in CA., and my sister Annelisa & her husband Brian are moving to Japan for three months. It was fun to sit a visit for a bit with no kids fighting for our attention.

Goin' to Lunch!

Bekah has a hard time listening, and doing what she is asked at school. So her teacher does this thing with her, that if she listens and does what she is asked the first time she gets a star. She can get five stars a day. If she gets between 15-20 stars a week she gets a play date at the end of the week. This week she choose to take her cousins Brieanna & Sydney to lunch at McDonalds.
They even got to get kids meals, that had Raspberry Torte dolls in them.
Brieanna, Bekah, and Sydney
After lunch we went to the drive thru at Dairy Keen for ice cream cones. It was a fun time spent with her favorite cousins!

Playin' with the AZ cousins

On Sunday after the wedding we all went up to Gramie's to spend sometime with the cousin's. Lyn's cousins and their kids form AZ. Luckily I had enough extra snow stuff for everyone to play in the snow and not get too cold. The kids and the adults had a blast!
Seamus, Jacob, and Weston
Ellie & Bekah making a snow fort and Jacob
Kyle, he wouldn't wear his gloves.
After playing in the snow they all came in for some quite time(naps), my kids enjoyed watching and playing the cousin's gameboys. A novelty for my kids. Jacob and Weston had a good time together, and were sad when Jacob had to leave for AZ. Maybe we can visit them next!

Chris & Tiesha's Wedding

Our day began when we left for the Mt. Timpanogas Temple at 8:00 a.m., we were all tired from staying up so late the night before decorating the reception hall, and visiting with family that was already here. We got to the temple by nine, and had to be in the waiting area by 9:30. I am so glad that Ellie is old enough to watch her brothers and sister while we were in the sealing. It was nice not to have to worry about finding a babysitter.

This is the happy couple just out of the temple. It is also one of the only pictures, I took because it was so cold!
After the family picture at the temple we went back up to Heber to set up for the wedding luncheon. I didn't take pictures of that either, because I was to busy setting up and cleaning up. However the kids had a great time playing with their cousins, and running all over the church.
After the luncheon we had just enough time to go home and get changed and be up at the reception hall for pictures, I wish we could have got a nap, but there wasn't time.
This is Ellie and Weston doing their present packing jobs. They were MIA most of the night, but I did get this picture of them actually waiting for presents.

Ellie did take her job as flower girl serious, every time Tiesha moved, Ellie was there to hold the train of her dress.

Ellie and Ray dancin' up a storm. Ray was so cute, he danced with most of the bridesmaids. He would go up and say" Would you like to dance with me?" and no one could resist!

This is Lyn and his two brothers Klint(L) and Travis(R). Travis lives in Chicago, and we don't get to see him very often, so it was good to have him home for a while.

This is the reason my children didn't do their jobs very well, actually no one could stay away from the Chocolate fountain for very long!

This is Bekah, Ellie, and Tiesha, she bought them jewelry for being her flower girls, and they had to have their picture with her.

This is our family picture from the wedding, the boys had spilled all over their new vests, that my Mom made(THANKS Mom), yet it still turned out pretty good. We were all tried and glad when it was over!
