School's Out Fun!

Since it was raining the day school got out for the summer. We got all the Berg cousins together and took a trip to the Zoo, on the 1st really nice day. I was tending Sammy Schwinn that day so he got to got too. It was a nice day to be outside.
This is Ellie's favorite picture spot, by the Zebras
Weston just relaxing in the hollow log,
at the playground.

Best Friends!

Ray the Crocodile Hunter!

Here are all the cousins (LtoR) Sammy (not a cousin), Bekah, Weston, Brieanna, Sydney, & Ellie. In front Maddison, Ray, Mason, Annelisa holding Sophie.
The best part of the Zoo this time was to find out that one of the Elephants is going to have a baby next year in July. (I can't image being pregnant for 22 months.) So next year we will have a new baby elephant at the Zoo.

Bekah's Last Day of Kindergarten

This is Bekah and her teacher Mrs. Holly Hansen.

Bekah was so sad that she wouldn't get to she her teacher again.
We made Mrs. Hansen a special class gift. I bought a white T-shirt, & Bekah wrote the words,"Mrs. Hansen's Kinder"Garden" on the front. Then we took it to her class and drew 20 flower stems on the front and back of the shirt and put the kids hands on top of each stem for the flower and then let the kids write there name in their hand. It turned out really cute, and Mrs. Hansen loved it!

This is Bekah and her best friend from school, Kaya.

My Favorite Summer Memories (growin' up)

Today's post is all about Summer Memories.

The Berg's have always had a garden, and a lot of my summer memories were made around the garden. When I was growing up we were all taught to garden by the hand of my Uncle Woodrow. He was an amazing gardener and could almost grow a car from an old tire. He was particular, and everything had to be done right, but it's always better to learn the right way to do something than the wrong way! My Dad and my Uncle Dale were taught the same thing and have taught us all that way too. Anyway the garden was Uncle Woodrow's joy when he was alive and we still try to make it a thing of beauty now. Everyone who can, helps plant, weed, water, and harvest the garden. It's an all summer job, but fun too!

When it's time to bring in the harvest, it's a big job, and usually the Lord blesses us with a bumper crop, enough to feed 15 families and sometimes more. When we were young, we all had to help with the canning process. My Dad even helped(and still does). Tomato juice is the worst and makes the biggest mess, but we were always laughing while we did it. I still enjoy canning vegetables with my Mom and now my kids are learning how to do it too.

A Little More May!

My Tulips have Bloomed!

Last Tuesday we got to go pick Grandpa Blaine up from work. Ray loved seeing all of Grandpa's tools and sitting in his "work truck".

The Last Story Time!

Today was the last story time before Summer!

Miss Sally had "The Bird Lady" come and she brought her friend
The Golden Eagle.
The kids were fasinated with the big bird and asked all sorts of good questions.

Here is Ray trying to get the eagle to hop up. The eagle couldn't fly anymore, because when it was little it was hit by a car, but it did spread it's big wings.

My kids all thought it was so cool!

Uni, The Unicorn's B-Day

Uni, was my favorite stuffed animal growing up, and has always lived at my parents house. She has been washed many times and loved by all. Anyway, my niece, Sydney is the one who loves her now. Yesterday, was Uni's B-day she is around 30 years old. We had cupcakes with purple frosting(Uni's favorite color) and played pin the tail on the Unicorn, and wore party hats! I guess I'm just a sucker for a birthday party!

Crazy Busy May!

We have had a CRAZY first part of May! It's been fun, however very busy!
Today was Ellie's 4th grade program. In 4th grade they learn all about the great state of Utah, and at the end of the year the kids do to program to tell what they have learned. They sing, dance and have parts to say.
This is the singing part. Ellie's favorite song in the program was Utah Indians, which told about all the Indians that lived in Utah.
This is the Virginia Reel dance that they had to do. Ellie has her hair in a ponytail. None of the girls her age liked to dance with the boys, cause they had to hold their hands! Ewe Cooties!
Gramie & Grandpa Vic Anderson were able to come to watch Ellie's program. She did a great job and we are all proud of her!

The Weight Loss Challenge
Last Monday we got a crazy idea to walk the bike path to Midway(2 miles). The kids had a blast riding their scooters, with their new helmets, and knee, wrist, and elbow pads.

Ray road in the stroller most of the way, but he did get out and walk with Grandpa Berg for a little while.
As a family (the Bergs) we are having a weight loss challenge. So Dad said we all need to walk together, which is fun, however I'm not sure if he is just trying to slowly kill us off one by one so he will win or what!
Mother's Day

I really got a hull this Mother's Day! These are some of my gifts.

Weston made me a really cool book at school, that tells what my favorite things are from his point of view. It's very thoughtful! I loved that Lyn and his brother Klint waited on us hand and foot and wouldn't let us prepare or clean up the dinner. I loved all the homemade cards from my children, and the German pancakes with blueberries for breakfast. I loved all the flowers that I received, especially the tulips(my fav.) and the painted daisies. I also loved all the chocolates! It was a great day!

This is a picture of our visit to the Provo Temple after a baby blessing last Sunday.
I think my kids are humoring me for the picture.
Another Quilt Finshed!
Last but, not least! Here is the quilt that I finished at the Quilt Retreat for my Aunt Charlotte's B-day. (Her B-day was the end of March) The reason it took me so long to finish it is because, it was my 1st major machine quilting job. I'm not too convinced that machine quilting takes less time at this point. (Even though it does)

Anyway to turned out good for a 1st timer. As you can tell I only quilted nesting squares in every other square.

She loved it of course!

Quilt Guild Fun!

The 1st weekend in May our quilt guild had a retreat in Park City. 3 days of non-stop quilting!Mom watched the kids on Friday, and I was able to go up and stay overnight and come home Sat. afternoon. It was so fun!
Here our my friends, Jenny and Rachel in the cutting room.
This is the view of the quilters from the cutting room. We moved all the furniture on the lower level and set up tables so we could sew.
One of the classes at the retreat, was learning to make a kalidoscope quilt. This is my freind Patty's quilt blocks and it is all from the same material. It's the way that you cut it that makes it so different. So cool!
The best way to sew is in your P.J.'S
Me, Patty, Crusan, Jenny, and Rachel
This is one for Jenny's quilt blocks that we are all doing for quilt block of the month. I really like these colors!
While we quilted into the wee hours of the morning, we also had chic flics to watch/listen to, this one was my favorite!
